Discuss a pilot

Now starting pilots

Reels at every jobsite and yard, and an agent that gets them back.

BinStride tags show where each reel was last seen and when: at distributors, utility yards and jobsites. The BinStride agent works like a reel-returns employee, on 24/7: it asks which reels are empty, books pickups and keeps the record your deposits depend on.

Built for wire and cable makers that ship on returnable reels.

The problem

Every empty reel left on a jobsite is a reel you'll buy again.

  • Empties sit after the pull

The cable was pulled months ago. The empty reels are still in the laydown yard.

  • "We sent them back"

A customer says the reels went back. Your records still show a deposit.

  • Buying reels you own

You buy steel reels while yours sit in utility yards, and a missing reel starts with phone calls.

How it works

Attach. Detect. Locate. Follow through.

  1. Attach a tag

Fix a long-life tag to each reel, with placement and mounting chosen and tested for your steel and wood reels: steel blocks and weakens the tag's signal. Nothing to charge, pair or plug in.

  2. Let the network detect it

When a compatible device passes nearby, at a distributor, a utility yard or a jobsite, it picks up the tag and records the time and the place.

  3. Locate it in BinStride

See where each reel was last seen and when, by customer and jobsite, beside your shipment list and deposit records.

  4. Let the agent follow through

The agent asks which reels are empty, books pickups that share a truck and keeps the record for your deposits.

The BinStride network

The BinStride network picks up your reels wherever compatible devices pass nearby: at distributors, utility yards, jobsites and on the road in between, with no readers to install.

Each sighting comes with its time and place.

Watch: cable reels

The BinStride agent

Your reel-returns employee, on 24/7.

Not another dashboard to watch. The BinStride agent is an AI agent that works like a reel-returns employee: it watches every reel against your shipment list and deposit records, follows up until reels come back, and keeps your reel count.

  • Watches every reel's sightings against your shipment list and deposit records.
  • Flags what needs action: reels out past your target, reels your records show returned that were last seen at a customer, and reels not seen in your window.
  • Reminds customers before their reels pass your credit window.
  • Asks the contractor, utility or distributor which reels are empty and ready to collect, by email or text.
  • Books pickups so reels share a truck, with your OK where you want it.
  • Asks your yard to note damaged reels as they come back.
  • Assembles the record behind each deposit or reel charge.
  • Sends your weekly reel summary.
  • Answers "how many of our reels are at the Lima utility yard?" any time.

You decide what it sends on its own and what waits for your OK. Texts go only to people who've agreed to get them.

BinStride agentto you, your weekly reel summary Weekly

  • Electrical distributor, Columbus OH: 12 reels your records show returned were last seen there Oct 29. I've asked the distributor; they're on Friday's pickup.
  • Returned this week: 240 reels, 6 noted damaged at your yard.

  • Not seen in 30 days: 420 of 3,200 tagged reels. 19 were last seen at Contractor's yard, Mansfield OH, on Sep 11; I've asked the contractor.
  • Needs you: OK the New Albany pickup on Wed Nov 4.

Your reel deposits

A record behind every deposit.

Your records say which reels are out on deposit and which came back. BinStride shows where each reel was last seen and when, and the agent works every difference with the customer. The record supports the conversation; it isn't proof on its own.

Your records show 12 of these reels returned. BinStride last saw them at the distributor's yard in Columbus on Oct 29.

The agent has already asked the distributor, and put them on Friday's pickup.

There's nothing to install at a distributor, a utility yard or a jobsite. They just answer the agent's questions. Discuss a pilot

Pilot program

Put BinStride to work on your reels.

A BinStride pilot puts tags on some of your reels, shipped to a few of your distributors, utilities and jobsites you choose, with the agent working from day one, so you can see what BinStride does before you decide anything bigger.

What we ask of you

  • Pick the reels and the customers.
  • A contact who can help fit the tags, and your shipment list and deposit records.
  • Who the agent may contact at each customer, and what it may send on its own.
  • A short check-in as results come in.

What's in a pilot

  • Tagged reels, chosen with you: steel, wood or both.
  • A few of your distributors, utilities and jobsites, plus your own yard.
  • The BinStride agent from day one: follow-ups, pickups that share a truck, damage notes and your weekly summary.
  • Everything in the table above, built in.
  • Your shipment list and deposit records beside where each reel was last seen.
  • Mounting tested on each of your reel types, under your handling.
  • A review of what turned up and what the agent closed, and a plan for the rest of your reels if it's worth it.

Questions

Questions and answers

Plain answers, including what the tags can't see.

The agent

What is the BinStride agent?

An AI agent that works like a reel-returns employee, on 24/7. It watches every reel against your shipment list and deposit records, follows up with customers until reels come back, and keeps your reel count.

Who does the agent contact, and as whom?

The people you name at each customer, by email, or by text if they've agreed to get texts. Messages come from your reel desk and say they're sent by the BinStride agent. You decide what it sends on its own and what waits for your OK.

Does it help with our reel return program?

Yes. The agent keeps the record behind each deposit and credit, follows up on reels out past your target, and reminds customers before their reels pass your credit window.

Can it settle a deposit dispute?

It gives you the record for that conversation: every reel shipped, where and when each was last seen, and every follow-up and reply. That record supports it; it isn't proof on its own.

How it works

Can I see where a reel is right now?

You see where each reel was last seen, and when. BinStride isn't live tracking: a reel is picked up when a compatible device passes nearby, and each sighting comes with its time and place.

Does BinStride use GPS?

No. There's no GPS receiver in the tag. Each sighting comes with the time and the place it was heard.

Do distributors or jobsites need to install anything?

No. There's nothing to install at a distributor, a utility yard or a jobsite. They just answer the agent's questions.

How accurate is the location?

Close enough to tell you which yard, jobsite or distributor a reel was heard at, not which row.

Reels and tags

Our reels are steel and wood. Will it work?

Steel blocks and weakens the tag's signal, so placement and mounting are chosen and tested on each of your reel types, under your handling, in the pilot.

Does it know which reels are empty?

The tags see reels, not the cable on them. The agent asks the customer which reels are empty and ready to collect.

What happens if a tag comes off?

The reel stops being seen, and BinStride shows where and when it was last seen. BinStride can't tell a removed tag from a reel that simply hasn't been picked up since, which is why mounting is one of the first things the pilot tests.

How long do the batteries last?

The tag is designed for long life with no charging. We'll confirm battery life for the production tag before we quote it.

Your systems

Does it work with our ERP?

Bring your shipment list and deposit records in as a CSV, and the agent works from them; export BinStride's last-seen list any time. ERP integrations are planned.

Pilots and pricing

How much does it cost?

It depends on how many reels you have, the tag and mounting your reels need, and service terms. BinStride is built around the economics of reusable containers. Ask us about a pilot.
